The
Wedding business in India is huge and there are a lot of exhibitions that cater
to this market, what one realizes that over the years the focus on the
ideal wedding dress has transformed the choice from the universal Sari to
lehengas. I have nothing against lehengas and that was my choice for my
wedding too. But frankly that was because I searched high and low and
could not find that perfect sari that fit in my budget. That got me thinking
as to why are a variety of lehengas available in all styles and
budget but when it comes to a Sari it is so tough to find one that
is made only for you.
One of the main reasons is maybe the demand is not what it used to be. Therefore it was quite a pleasant surprise when I chanced upon a exhibition called Shaadi Sakhi, I got to meet designers who were so talented. The color choices, weaves and the quality of weaves was mesmerizing. The person who put it all together is
Rinku Nagda, you will get designs and weaves at her exhibition which you have not seen, revival handlooms which are long lost and rare. She has completed 23 wedding exhibitions and has
Started Shaadi Sakhi Art Gallery at Matunga CR in March 2014 to give platform to various exhibitors for showcasing their products .
This video takes you through her thought
and features a lovely chicken lucknowi Sari with badla work . Which is stunning...
